Three Scottish boys, Simon Neil, James Johnston and Ben Johnston make up the rock band, Biffy Clyro formed in 1995 have soared to success. Simon Neil was only fifteen when creating this mega band, now sixteen years later Biffy Clyro have not only dominated the rock charts but have well and truly earned a recurring place on the main stream charts. Biffy Clyro who’ve released five studio albums since 2002, are set to headline all the popular festivals this year (it has already been announced Biffy Clyro are set to headline Wakestock 2011).
Since 1995 the band have released five studio albums, Blackened Sky (2002),The Vertigo of Bliss (2003) ,Infinity Land (2004) ,Puzzle (2007) and Only Revolutions (2009). After the first three albums the bands following significantly grew. In 2007 when ‘Puzzles’ was released, the album went gold in the UK charts along with the next album, ‘Only Revolutions’, which went gold within days reaching number three in the UK charts in 2009 and then went on to go platinum. Since 2007 the popularity of Biffy Clyro has grown and grown, with releases of singles such as, ‘Bubbles’, ‘Mountains’ and ‘The Golden Rule’ reaching top ten spots in the UK main stream chart. Biffy Clyro are conquering the music world.
Biffy Clyro now, consistent main stream features have been nominated and won many respected awards. They are a feature in the rock and main stream music world. The band itself can be described as many different genres, mainly indie rock. The influences behind Biffy Clyro come from many different places. Mainly heavy metal bands, although Biffy Clyro’s musical sound does not resemble heavy metal much. They’ve been described to sound like well renowned bands such as ‘Nirvana’ and ‘Foo Fighters’. Influence for the bands name has never actually been disclosed; however it is common to hear Biffy Clyro fans chanting ‘Mon the Biff’ in between songs. Also, there are many theories behind why the band are named Biffy Clyro, there’s a theory it comes from the acronym for "Big Imagination for Feeling Young 'Cos Life Yearns Real Optimism”, yet the band have said in interviews that Biffy Clyro is the name of a finish footballer.
This year the band are expected to play all the main festivals, it has already been announced they are set to headline at Wakestock. In previous years the band has played many renowned festivals such as Download, T in the Park, Leeds and Redding and Glastonbury. Biffy Clyro have also played top venues such as Wembley Stadium. Not only have the band played in amazing locations, they have opened and supported other hugely popular influential bands and singers, such as The Who, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, The Rolling Stones and Bon Jovi. Biffy Clyro are quickly becoming a phenomenon alike these bands.
Before, Biffy Clyro had main stream success; they were spotted playing the unsigned stage at T in the Park in 2000 and were signed to an independent label called the ‘Beggars Banquet’. They went on to release three albums, Blackened Sky, The Vertigo of Bliss and Infinity Land, before moving on from Beggars Banquet to sign with Warner Bros. Before being hugely successful the band had supported Weezer and began touring.

Biffy Clyro are a Scottish rock band from Kilmarnock, comprising Simon Neil (guitar, lead vocals), James Johnston and Ben Johnston .After their first three albums, the band expanded their following significantly with the release of their fourth, Puzzle in 2007. The album went gold in the UK, selling over 100,000 units. Biffy Clyro's popularity was built upon further in 2008 and 2009 with the release of the singles "Mountains" and "That Golden Rule", which both reached the top 10 of the UK singles chart. Their latest album, Only Revolutions, reached #3 in the UK chart and went gold within days of its release in 2009, later going platinum in 2010 and was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize.

Changing my article.

I originally chose to do an article an Article and interview with Ian Prowse(of Pele and Amsterdam), however I felt that the article was not appropriate to my genre of magazine, although Ian Prowse is from indie bands, he appeals to the older demographic. Therfore I chose to change my article to Biffy Clyro a band that appeals to the target audience and fits teh magazine.

In creating the Double Spread, alike the contents Page I have used quark Xpress. In using this The work has been sorted into columns. And a picture is yet to be used.

Contents Print Screen continued

 I added pictures to the contents page after completing my coverlines. My original plan via my draft did not fit correctly, I felt it did not look right. And when the picture were fitting the box they did not fit the direct shape planned.









As I added more colour to my work, I kept to my original colour scheme of red and black to coincide with the front cover.  I added extra coverlines to make the work look more full, due to there being alot of empty space. I attempted to place all my pictures in a direct line. The next picture I am going to add with be a musical picture
